Happy Labor Day, Happy September 1st, and of course Happy Make-Up Monday!
While everyone is getting their last wear of “All White Everything” (which I don’t think that exist in Miami, I’m pretty sure white is year round), I’ve already been showing hints of my favorite shades of fall colors, mostly on my lips.
I’m really picky when it comes to dark shades, I want them to be able to last the majority of my outing. Because I hate that look as if you just drank red wine and it’s this awful failed ombre lip/semi coating of rouge.
I know it’s only September 1st, but why not get a head start and pick up a few of these shades (the first day of fall is September 22nd)?
Tips when picking out a rouge for your lips (Fall season):
-Matte or Cream Finish (save the shimmer for winter)
-Get a matching or close to matching lip liner (for extra long wear), you don’t have to buy an expensive brand every time.
-Be sure that your rouge is highly pigmented. When you test the product out on your hand, and are able to see through it, or it melts and breaks away easily- that is not just a No, but a HELL NO. If you test it out, and it’s thick but chalky, breaks easily, this could be problematic and an application of chapstick might go overboard.
-Be sure to exfoliate your pout before testing out these ladies, chapped lips are a buzz kill, when trying these on.
Solution for “Chapped Lips”:
-DRINK WATER ALL DAY EVERYDAY.
– Find your favorite LIP BALM.
-Exfoliate.
Home Made Sugar Scrub- for your lips.
Caro’s Confections Sugar Scrub
Ingredients
-1 tablespoon of sugar.
– 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
-1 teaspoon of honey.
Directions
– Mix all three. With just a finger begin to exfoliate your lips, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry (try to avoid licking your lips off), and add that lip balm to seal those soft puckers.
You can easily make this in larger quantities and store in airtight containers. I sell a similar version for my small shop called, “Strawberry Shortcake” (Purchase HERE)
THE PRODUCTS
When it comes to saturated pigments and beautiful rich colors for your lips, I go to ‘MAC’ and ‘Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’. ‘O.C.C.‘ tars are amazing, one drop on your pout delivers so much color, that the term “little goes a long way” is crucial! It’s really fun using these tars and impressive how you can control the level of color with them! As for MAC, well they are my “go to lipstick”. I’ve never been let down with those guys!
